Being able to give my bike a good clean is about as far as my mechanical know how goes, so not much really. Too scared of doing more harm than good, so i leave it to the professionals. lol.

there are lots of jobs we can do ourselves
oil changes for example are simple and overtime save loads of money
chain adjustment
bulbs
but then there are jobs I will not do cause i dont have a clue
and other jobs I will ask around and see if the is someone who will help
to show me the way
plus i have a manual so i can look at the job and know when to go for it and when to leave it

Luckily i'm friends with a couple of bike mechanics who take pity on my total incompetency, and put up with all my daft questions etc.

Haha! Same here! But... I'm learning. My friend has been helping me strip the bike down so I've got a general idea now of what certain bits do what and how they all fit together. Next lesson for me is the oil change which I've been told is pretty easy to do.
I'm trying to get people that know to write some 'how to' guides for the website too as I think they'd benefit us that 'know nothing technical' greatly!
